The fastest growing company in South Carolina

wcfastest1.jpg WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach filed the following report:

The fastest growing company in South Carolina this year is based in Myrtle Beach.

Wild Creations was unveiled as the top-growing company, at a SC Chamber of Commerce convention this week.

Wild Creations sells mini eco-aquariums that feature live African Dwarf Frogs. The company has grown 300 percent during the recession and it's going global, with new offices in California and China.

The company's owners say they knew the product would be successful as soon as they saw it. "We wanted to bring the eco-aquarium into the toy industry. We felt like kids loved it so much, we'd seen their reaction to the product and we knew we had a winner on our hands," Rhett Powers, the owner of Wild Creations.

Powers says they added more products built around the eco-aquarium concept, to get kids active and involved in science and nature.

WILD CREATIONS GOLD RUSH ON ECOAQUARIUM CONTINUES WITH A MOMS CHOICE AWARD

Best Seller & Multi-Award Winner EcoAquarium™ Wins 2010 Gold

Myrtle Beach, SC (July 27, 2010) – How can you judge if a product is a good bet for the whole family? Ask a Mom! That’s the idea behind the Mom’s Choice Awards that recognizes inventors and companies for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly products. Wild Creations and its classic EcoAquarium have just been named a Gold recipient in the 2010 Mom’s Choice Awards in its Educational Product category.

mca_gold_label_2in_150dpi_printcopy-1.jpgTo win a Mom’s Choice Award, a product must pass the muster on quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal and cost. That’s a tall order but one that the EcoAquairum has been passing with flying colors this year. The self-contained ecosystem has been awarded – in just the past few weeks -- Learning Express’ 2010 Most Innovative New Toy, Parents’ Choice Foundation Approved Seal, Tillywig 2010 Top Toy Award, Dr. Toy’s 2010 Best Green Product Award and Mr. Dad and Great Dad Recommends Seals of Approval.  In 2009, this “gee whiz” product won a 5 out of 5 star review from What The Stuff Awards, was a finalist for Best Toys for Kids at the American Specialty Toy Retailers Association (ASTRA), a 2009 National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, 2009 Creative Child Magazine Product of the Year and was nominated as Toy of the Year with the Toy Industry Association. That’s a lot of recognition for a 4” x 4” container hosting a pair of little frogs!  Wild Creations believes the best way to learn about the environment is to see it and experience it firsthand. The aquarium is the perfect size for a child’s bedroom, kitchen counter, dorm shelf or office desktop. Last year over 495,000 EcoAquariums were sold nationally and globally. Hallmark stores named the little aquarium its 2009 top seller. Projections for 2010 sales are simply, more!  With moms making 85% of all buying decisions, according to the Mom’s Choice Awards, there’s a strong expectation that the EcoAquarium will be on many back-to-school or holiday shopping lists.

WILD CREATIONS™ WINS DOUBLE HONORS: LEARNING EXPRESS’ BEST NEW VENDOR & MOST INNOVATIVE NEW TOY

150+ Franchisees Wild About Company & Best Seller EcoAquarium™
leaward.jpg

MyrtleBeach, SC July 15, 2010 Learning Express stores, the nation’s largest educational toy retailer, stock their shelves coast to coast with the most innovative and captivating products for today’s youth market. At last month’s annual convention, they went wild over one of their newest toy vendors and its best selling product – Wild Creations and its Eco-Aquarium.  According to its website, the Learning Express Annual Convention in Orlando hosted the Learning Express corporate staff, the owners of more than150 Learning Express toy stores, and more than 100 of the world’stop toy vendors. Vendors attend by invitation only. For toymakers, the highlight of the conference is the awards banquet naming outstanding manufacturers, products and vendors, as voted by the local Learning Express owners. Wild Creations took home double honors:

2010 Best New Vendor: Wild Creations
Granted to a company that displays an eagerness to work within Learning Express’ franchise system and works closely with store owners in developing strong relationships.

2010 Most Innovative New Toy: Classic EcoAquarium
classic300x300.jpg
The EcoAquarium is a hit with kids and adults. Each EcoAquarium is a complete aquatic ecosystem environment that requires no additional chemicals, filters, or aeration. Simply change the water every five or six months using fresh, bottled spring water. Its compact design is ideal for a child’s bedroom, the classroom or living large on the kitchen counter. The EcoAquarium has won numerous industry awards including the Parents’ Choice Foundation and Tillywig 2010 Top Fun Award.
Of all the industry awards we received this year,” stated Rhett Power, co-founder of Wild Creations, “we were absolutely thrilled to be selected Best New Vendor of the Year from the largest specialty toychain in the country. We have developed an excellent partnership with the Learning Express home office team and their knowledgeable storeowners which has resulted in a significant increase in their sales of Wild Creations’ product line, particularly our EcoAquarium.”
As a dad of young children, along with my business partner Peter Gasca,we have made it our mission at Wild Creations to discover around the world the coolest, unseen products for children in the U.S. To date,we have introduced over 40 new and novel products in 2010 – many imported from London’s Natural History Museum and UK Science Museum-- to the delight of retailers, kids and their parents.”

The two honors are especially meaningful to Wild Creations because its EcoAquarium is not without challenges for retailers, compared to simply receiving a box of toys and placing them on store shelves. Learning Express stores must receive live frogs and assemble the parts for their habitats immediately upon arrival -- but the brisk sales are their reward!

ABOUT LEARNING EXPRESS
Learning Express is the nation’s leading franchisor of educational toystores. Currently there are more than 150 locations across the country, each one locally owned and operated.  Learning Express provides an extraordinary shopping experience with knowledgeable sales staff that can offer expert advice on choosing the perfect toy, for every child, for every occasion. The Learning Express product mix is carefully selected from manufacturers around the world and each toy has exceptional play value. Here is what the judges had to say...

The Wild Creations EcoAquarium comes with its own ecosystem - colorful filtration rocks, a plant, and large decorative rock and base, two frogs, and a year's supply of frog food. No extra filtration system necessary. Simple instructions for set up and care are included. Our testers are still talking about what they've learned from this miniature ecosystem. They've honed their observation skills and notice how the frogs behave and react to changes. Some frogs are calm, some seem to play; others get downright aggressive when it's time to eat. But the most important lessons are about taking care of and responsibility for a pet. Two valuable lessons for us all.

WildCreations believes the best way to learn about the environment is to see it and experience it first hand. They do warn not to kiss any frogs (two are included), no matter how tempting! Wild Creations Hatches A Tillywig’s 2010 Top Fun Award

WILD CREATIONS ECO-AQUARIUM GETS A KISS FROM TILLYWIG AWARDS AND ITS FROGGIE DUO BECOME… AN AWARD-WINNING FROGGIE DUO

twig.jpgMyrtle Beach, SC (June 1, 2010) — The Brothers Grimm may not have been the first to realize that frogs are a lot more than slimy swamp swimmers, but they were certainly the first to write about how amazing frogs actually are. Wild Creations agrees 100%. And to prove it, their Eco-Aquarium will introduce kids to their very own froggy friends. They may not end up at Buckingham Palace, but as Wild Creations was just dubbed with a Tillywig 2010 Top Toy Award, these cool, low-maintenance pets can lay claim to some royalty.

In order to be selected as a Tillywig award winner, a product must be determined to have high entertainment and/or educational value. Tillywig's awards program provides retail buyers, news media, parents, and consumers with product information and reviews of superior children's products available in today's marketplace. After extensive testing, they bestowed three different awards – Top Fun, Brain Child and Sterling Fun -- to children’s products currently on specialty toy store shelves.

Products earning a Top Fun Award are exceptional products that stand out in terms of outstanding design, construction, and play. Here’s what the judges at Tillywig Toy Awards had to say about the Classic Kit Eco-Aquarium:

Wild Creations’ Classic Kit Eco-Aquarium • $30.00 • Ages 5-15 classicwithtwigtopfun.jpg

Picture this: You answer a knock at your door and find a delivery man with a package your children excitedly open to find . . . frogs, LIVING FROGS! How cool is that? Few things are as fun for a child as getting a new pet, and few things are as gratifying for a parent as finding a pet that requires near zero maintenance, in other words, a pet you can say yes to with all your heart. The Classic Kit Eco-Aquarium from Wild Creations does just that, providing two companion Dwarf African Frogs, a one year supply of food, and all the trappings you need to populate the self-maintaining aquarium (merely change water every 3 months). The frog couple we received (we named them Guinevere and Lancelot) are cute as the dickens. When resting, the pair often squeeze together, piggyback style, behind the decorative rock. Home, sweet home!

In addition to the evaluation of children’s products, the Tillywig program also awards a small number of retail stores each year for their ongoing contributions to promoting high quality, innovative new products from small and mid-sized toy manufacturers.
